Spring...

   spring came and went in a hurry. somehow we squeezed in an anniversary, birthdays, a confirmation, proms, a graduation, a spring play, athletic events, award ceremonies, and sports banquets. all good stuff, finally resting our sandy feet on the beach of cape may, nj, in celebration of summer's arrival. whew!
   my wish is to blog it all. but if i do that all in one post, it may be next spring before i get it out there!  so i'll take it Bird by Bird as Anne Lamott would say...

"Thirty years ago my older brother, who was  ten years old at the time, was trying to get a  report on birds written that he’d had three months to  write. It was due the next day. We were out at our  family cabin in Bolinas, and he was at the kitchen  table close to tears, surrounded by binder paper  and pencils and unopened books on birds,  immobilized by the hugeness of the task ahead. Then my  father sat down beside him, put his arm around my  brother’s shoulder, and said, ‘Bird by bird, buddy.  Just take it bird by bird."







even the bathrooms at this place are to die for!





if you go, make your dinner and spa reservations early. room in the inn, but not in the spa this trip.  no worries.  we went on a mountain hike that was much better!

said a little prayer for the new bride and groom 
& for 20 more years for the seasoned ones!

To Catch a Dream: Words in Flight

It's finished!   
In January I jumped.  I signed up for The Fiction Project and set about the task of making this little book.  On my morning walks with my Labradors, words would flutter about my head.  I jotted down these morning words and phrases when ever I found a moment. 
When the blank black journal arrived in the mail, it took over a month to get the courage to start.  I had to make a conscientious decision to just play, and I finally dove in.  
Finding the time to "play" was difficult.  I had to give myself permission to enter into this creative world and play.  I pretended to be a real artist... a real writer... creating away in my art studio.  
 And on these days I was free.

The Fiction Project in Flight

It's quiet here on this blog.  I've been busy working on The Fiction Project.  Trying anyway, to carve out the time in the flurry of spring activities...school art show, middle school musical scenery, field trips, Confirmation, graduation, 2 proms! 
My theme... In Flight.  Titled, To Catch a Dream: Words in Flight.  Deadline approaching!  Hoping the words fluttering about my head will settle on the page!  Praying for more hours in the day.

Yesterday...she turns 18



Yesterday, I was navigating the roads of new mama-hood.  
Yesterday, my dream of being a mother came true.  
Yesterday, she turned 18.
    Today, I'm navigating the roads 
                  of letting her go.

Fearlessness is Bliss...


For the past 6 months this blog has been my secret playground...a place to pretend I'm a writer, a place to dream of being an artist and a photographer, a place to scrapbook my favorite images and quotes and journal entries.  
When I was little, I carved a niche out of my tiny closet; the walls plastered with Leif Garrett, Donny Osmond, and David Cassidy.  I'd sneak away and plug Leif's latest 8-track into the player and I'd just sit, draw, and dream.  
Today I'm letting a couple of my dear friends into my hideaway, into my playground!  I'm scared to death they'll think it's weird.  I never dreamed I'd feel so vulnerable.  What will they think of me?
Today's words for the day are "fearlessness is bliss".  
I'm letting go of fear.  
I'm taking a leap into bliss.
